Recap: Facebook’s Q1 2017 Earnings Call

As highlighted in our Q1 2017 Global Facebook Advertising Benchmark Report, mobile ad spending surged throughout the quarter as marketers continued to generate higher returns on Facebook.

Online retail advertising was more mobile than ever before, with a 58% year-over-year increase in mobile ad spend between Q1 2016 and Q1 2017. At the same time, large-scale ecommerce companies using Nanigans saw return on ad spend (ROAS) increase an average of 31% year-over-year.  

Yesterday’s Facebook earnings call similarly reflected the continued growth and success of the platform:

  • Total revenue grew by 49% year-over-year to $8.03 billion
  • Mobile ad revenue accounted for 85% of total ad revenue (vs. 82% this time last year)
  • Facebook has 1.28 billion daily active users (DAU), an increase of 18% year-over-year
